Recently, a new friend of mine, struggling with his calling a a Christian musician, asked me if he should allow others to use his music in their church. He has just begun his journey into this fun-filled ministry and hasn't recorded, nor shared his songs in a public format. So he wonders, "Should I let someone who has a platform for performing, do my songs before I have a chance to perform them."
My friend is very humble in spirit and has a true heart for sharing the message of Christ with those who do not know. He knows this is about the Lord's work. So he wonders if these are selfish inclinations in his heart, part of the"old man," so to speak.
On the other hand, Jesus sent out His apostles with these words of advise...
Matthew 10:16 (New International Version) "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." And ..."a worker is worth his wages" from the same passage.
I think it's a matter of conscience. What is the Lord's will? My friend wanted to know my opinion, but I would like to hear from the musicians of this fledgling community.
